Motifs: floral sprigs forming a kind of winding S-shaped tendril. Tiny flowers and fruit combined with sprigs of blooming, heavy flowers with calyxes resembling lilies or tulips. Expressive, full flowers with a soft outline. 18th century, France; height 39.9 cm, width 19 cm., A rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges lies against a dark background, showing a floral woven pattern. The cloth ground is a light beige or off-white, with floral motifs in green, brown, muted pink, yellow, and a few darker olive tones. The left side shows a large leaf-like design in green and yellow, the central area has sweeping petal shapes in shades of brown and tan surrounded by small green leaves and clusters, and the right side includes more foliage and a cluster of pinkish blooms. There are areas of wear and small holes, a vertical slit toward the center with loose threads, and uneven cut edges with some loose yellow and white fibers visible.
