Fabric fragment, Repossession provenance. 18th-century silk fragment, patterned broché silk with metal threads. Background: simple weave with a rep structure, subreport-lisére; brocading with pale and dark blue, multiple sea blues, celadon, white, pale paint green, light and dark pink, apple green, grass green, and silver braided lamella threads. Design: branches of various roses and cornflowers forming a vertically rising, symmetrically branching column with silver leaves between the branches. Zonal brocades, grosgrain background, and fine lisére patterns suggest English influence typical of the 1740s. Date: 2nd half of the 18th century. Place of origin: France. Dimensions: height 114 cm, width 25 cm. Materials: silk, metal threads. Classification: patterned fabric fragment, Gros de Tours liséré, broché., A long strip of pale beige fabric with a repeating floral and ribbon motif running horizontally, showing a few sprigs of small rounded flowers in shades of red and blue with green leaves, interwoven with ribbon-like leafy shapes in muted gray and darker gray stripes; the fabric has a slightly textured weave with scattered small faded spots and worn edges, and the background shows areas of off-white and cream variations against a dark backdrop.
