Fabric fragment, fragments of silk patterned fabric, 18th-century silk, fabric with preserved selvedge. Gros de Tours background — yellow brocaded with colorful threads: light and dark pink, light and dark salmon, light and dark green, dark salmon, cherry red, silver braided thread, silver lamellar. Threads tied with a twill weave. Pattern: fancy fruits against a silver lace pattern. Hem width: 0.9 cm. 18th century, France. Height 39 cm, width 24 cm., A worn textile fragment lies against a dark background, showing a torn, irregular triangular shape with frayed edges. The fabric displays a bright yellow ground with a patterned area of metallic-looking threads forming an ornate, lace-like design. Over parts of the yellow are raised, velvety patches in olive green, dark brown, and deep maroon, with a few areas of faded pink and muted red forming floral-like shapes. A narrow yellow border runs along one long edge, and parts of the pile appear flattened or worn, revealing lighter and darker variations of the same colors. The background is black and the overall surface shows loose fibers and signs of age.
