Fabric fragment, silk taffeta background in blue-green, brocaded with colorful threads in a twill weave. Brocade colors: light and dark greens, browns, pale pinks, dark cherry, blue, gray, silver, olive green, lemon green, reddish brown. Patterned with floral motifs and fragments of garden architecture; preserved selvedge. French, 1730s. Dimensions: height 111 cm, width 21 cm; fragment length 26 cm; edge width 0.5 cm., A long rectangular fabric strip laid flat on a dark background with frayed edges and irregular ends, showing a patterned pile on a smooth base; the base fabric appears gray-green, and the pile contains a mix of colors including olive green, deep brown, mustard yellow, muted pink, faded red, blue-gray, and touches of beige and white, arranged in several repeated abstract floral or cloud-like motifs; the pile shows worn and tufted areas with visible threads and some loose fibers, and a small folded label is attached near one short edge.
