Fabric fragment: pale pink silk brocaded with colorful and silver threads. Brocade threads: light green, pink, pale pink, light brown, white, blue, pale purple, cherry red, silver. Fabric divided into horizontal silver stripes forming the basis for alternating miniature landscapes: a tuft with a tree, smaller tree silhouettes, and a fragment of ruins overgrown with vegetation. Landscapes separated by vertical stripes and floral bouquets woven from the background. Background weave derived from linen a type of rep. 2nd half of the 18th century, France. Height 106 cm, width 23 cm. Report: height 13.5 x width ?, A long rectangular textile with a pale background laid flat against a dark surface, patterned in a grid of vertical and horizontal bands creating a series of rectangular panels; within many panels there are small floral and vine motifs in colors including gold, olive green, muted pink, deep pink, blue, and pale brown, and some panels show a faint tone-on-tone botanical pattern; narrow vertical stripes in a silvery gray separate the panels, and along the edges there are scattered floral clusters and small folded or frayed sections showing raw fabric edges; overall the textile shows areas of subtle discoloration and variations in the pale background color.
