Background: gros de Tours green, pattern brocaded with threads tied in a weft weave: lemon, celadon, light and dark pink, white, silver braided thread, brown. Piece width: 54.5 cm. Border width: 0.6 cm. 1st half 18th century, France; height 54.5 cm, width 36 cm., A rectangular fabric fragment with a muted olive-green background displays an ornate symmetrical floral and foliate pattern in a few colors including pale pink, soft gray, muted yellow, and a faded blue. The woven surface shows a central elaborate cartouche-like motif flanked by scrolling acanthus shapes and stylized blossoms, with clusters of rounded flowers and leafy sprays arranged across the cloth.
