Fragment of fabric, fabrics, fragments of silk patterned fabric with floral patterns. Pattern with a symmetrical composition of fantasy-floral motifs: lilac branches entwined with silver leaves stylized into a Rococo ornament. Background: gros de Tours green, pattern brocaded with threads tied in a weft weave: lemon, celadon, light and dark pink, white, silver braided thread, brown. Piece width: 54.5 cm. Border width: 0.6 cm. 1st half 18th century, France; height 54.5 cm, width 36 cm., A rectangular fabric fragment with a muted olive-green background displays an ornate symmetrical floral and foliate pattern in a few colors including pale pink, soft gray, muted yellow, and a faded blue. The woven surface shows a central elaborate cartouche-like motif flanked by scrolling acanthus shapes and stylized blossoms, with clusters of rounded flowers and leafy sprays arranged across the cloth. The edges are slightly frayed and the weave texture is visible, with areas of metallic sheen in the gray and yellow threads and subtle variations in thread density producing a raised embroidery-like effect. The overall appearance is of an aged decorative textile with balanced repeating ornamentation and a subdued, antique color palette.
