Travel armchair of the late Baroque type, carved and gilded, with a high flat backrest on cabriole legs that arc into the wavy-cut frame at the bottom, S-shaped armrests and supports ending in a common volute. Trapezoidal seat and backrest cushions, reupholstered in red damask imitating large-scale Baroque fabrics. The backrest upholstery is recessed and removable after removing the upper frame, which is mounted on steel pins and decorated with acanthus leaves, a checkered pattern, and a cartouche filled with an acanthus finial. Frame decorated with palmettes and rosettes impressed in chalk-glue; legs framed with a half-cylinder. Hinges connecting the front and rear frames are steel, primed and gilded on the outside. Late Baroque, 1710–1725; probable origin Germany. Seating furniture travel armchair. Dimensions: height 175 cm, width 73 cm, depth 64 cm., A tall ornate chair seen from the back with a high rectangular backrest upholstered in patterned deep red fabric framed by wooden trim, a cushioned seat in matching red fabric, and curved wooden armrests with a gold finish; the chair rests on carved cabriole legs with scrolling feet and elaborate gilt decoration in gold, set against a plain light gray background.
