Traveling secretary, classicism style, platter ornament. TRAVELING SECRETARY with straight walls, with a diagonally inclined flat lid, ash veneered, inlaid. On all walls and the lid are geometric fields adapted to the outline, enclosed by a frame, filled with patterned ash and edged with black and light veining. On the lid is an oval reserve with a platter motif with tan arms. Inside, a central recess enclosed by an arcade, two drawers on each side in two rows. Bone lock key; steel, mortise-and-applied, single-bolt, latch lock. Brass hinges, greyish. 18th/19th century, Poland. Furniture, writing furniture. Height 17.1 cm, width 40.5 cm, depth 30.6 cm., A rectangular wooden box with a sloped lid sits on a smooth gray surface; the box is a warm golden-brown with visible wood grain and a darker brown trim, and the sloped top features a carved circular fan-like rosette at its center surrounded by inset panels with grain patterns; the front shows a small keyhole plate in a lighter metal and paneling details, the hinges on the back of the lid are a darker metallic color, and the overall scene includes shades of gray in the background and surface.
