Travel dressing table, Baroque style, ca. 1750, Vizagapatam, India. Ebony cuboid with a lifting lid and a front bottom drawer, richly inlaid with flowers and plant twigs engraved in bone and set with black paint. Inside: a tilting mirror, five compartments on each side six with lids. Mirror frame and lids inlaid with bone with plant and floral twigs. Three compartments in the drawer. Steel swan neck handles on the sides. Travel/hygiene furniture. Height 17 cm, width 41 cm, depth 30.5 cm., A decorative box with its lid open showing an inner rectangular panel propped upright, all surfaces predominantly dark brown with ornate light-colored floral and foliate inlays and borders; the propped panel has an intricate light-colored frame and a pale central surface, the interior lid is dark, and the box interior includes recessed compartments with green fabric linings and light-colored trim; metal hardware in a muted metallic tone appears at the side and front keyhole area, and the box sits against a pale neutral background.
