Chest, Gothic style, floral and geometric ornament, repossession/purchase provenance noted, chest with straight sides and front forming console legs at the bottom, flat lid, decorated on the pseudo-frame of the front with engraved dry thistle motif on a darkened background. Panels and sides smooth, lid framed on sides and front with profiled frames forming the rim. Board walls, back and front attached to body, fastened with dowels. Interior on the left side of the box. Steel fittings secondary — steel applied lock without a cup, strap-eye hinges, fastened with forged nails. Dated 1500–1520. Place of origin possibly Bavaria, Lesser Poland, Central Europe. Furniture; storage furniture. Height 80.5 cm, width 159 cm, depth 60 cm., A wooden chest with a rectangular top and paneled front, showing a worn brown finish with areas of lighter and darker brown; the front has three recessed panels separated by vertical carved stiles and a carved horizontal band along the base with an interlacing pattern in a darker tone; the top edge and corners show scuffs and worn edges; the sides display wood grain and knot patterns in brown with some lighter patches; the base has arch-shaped cutouts and carved decorative motifs on each end in brown and darker brown; the surface has irregular marks and small holes, and the overall background is a neutral gray with a pale floor.
