Chair, Biedermeier style, mahogany; padded seat with removable cushion and board backrest. Front legs straight, turned in baluster form; rear legs sabre-shaped. Trapezoidal seat, slightly bulging at the front. Wide side frames embrace the seat cushion, which rests on a pine frame upholstered in green-striped fabric. Backrest has angular S-shaped side stiles, a lower crossbar, and a rounded central board narrowed at the bottom and aligned with the back. Backrest stiles widen in the lower section and end with a forward-curved volute. Polished frame with carving: acanthus leaves on the upper front legs, anthemon antemion and symmetrical S-shaped beams at the base of the backrest boards, and scrollwork at the ends of the backrest crossbars. Dated 1830–1840, possibly Warsaw, Poland. Seating furniture; height 92 cm, width 51.4 cm, depth 56 cm., A wooden chair seen from the back with a curved top rail and a sculpted splat showing wood grain in warm brown tones, a horizontal stretcher connecting the sides, a cushioned seat upholstered in a striped fabric with beige, cream, and darker brown stripes, turned front legs with carved details and plain tapered rear legs, all set against a plain white background.
