Armchair, ARMCHAIR with a frame composed of simple, angular elements, with a seat and backrest upholstered in leather. The legs are held together by a box-like binding composed of narrow joins on the sides and wide geometric wattles on the front and back. Rectangular seat, upholstered on straps. The backrest is composed of side rails and a piece of thick leather nailed with headstocks in their upper section, above the armrests; tilted. The armrests are S-shaped, topped with volutes at the front, on turned supports in the form of a baluster, constituting, like the backrest rails, an extension of the legs. The volutes at the top of the backrest stiles are carved with acanthus leaves, while the outer and inner sides of the armrest volutes are decorated with rosettes. The frame elements are accentuated around the perimeter with a delicate groove, and their tenon joints are pegged. Baroque style, wattle and rosette ornament, acanthus ornament, balusters. 1st half of the 17th century. Possibly Italy, Spain, or Portugal. Piece of furniture seating. Height 114.5 cm; width 60 cm; depth 63.5 cm., A wooden chair with a dark brown leather seat and backrest, showing a medium brown wood frame with carved and turned arm supports and decorative scroll details at the top of the back posts; a row of dark metal studs runs along the edge of the leather where it meets the wood; the chair has a geometric decorative stretcher between the legs and a plain light gray background.
