CHEST on a table base, inlaid with marquetry using the cerosine technique; cuboid with a flat lid bordered on three sides with moldings. Front divided into three squares by moldings. Entire piece carved in the massif, imitating frame-and-panel construction. Lid on both sides and the front richly decorated with veining and ornamentation. 16th century, Venice. Dimensions: height 45 cm, width 125 cm, depth 52.8 cm., A rectangular wooden chest with a hinged top, decorated with intricate inlaid geometric and floral patterns in contrasting light and dark tones; the wood appears brown with lighter cream-colored inlay forming repetitive star-like motifs and circular floral designs across the front panels and top, with carved framed panels and raised borders; the lid shows circular ornamental patterns and a central patterned square, while the front has three recessed panel sections each filled with dense inlay and surrounded by ornate borders and vine-like motifs; the sides show wood grain and additional decorative detailing; the overall color palette includes brown, cream, and hints of darker brown or black in the carved accents, set against a neutral pale background.
