Pipe stand, origin unknown, smoking, pipes, acorns, rack for pipes and billiard cubes. Skeletal structure composed of two pairs of spool-turned columns on angular plinths, mounted on a narrow rectangular platform supporting cuboid drawer bodies, connected mid-height and at the top by horizontally arranged slats with semicircular cutouts on the front. Platform rests on four turned legs with a high, straight rim and glued-on wavy-cut slats for holding billiard cues or long pipes, and a single groove at the back probably originally from the installation of the gallery. Upper panel decorated with a gallery in the form of an arched crenellation reverse arcading topped with acorns. Bodies with drawers probably intended for balls are surrounded by a low slatted gallery. 1830–1840, Central Europe. Furniture, equipment; H 111.5 cm, W 89 cm, D 29 cm., A wooden freestanding rack with a warm brown finish, featuring a rectangular base with rounded feet, two turned vertical posts on each side with bulbous rings, a scalloped horizontal support near the middle, and a decorative scalloped top rail with rounded finials; small box-like compartments sit atop each side supported by the posts.
