Furniture panel, Gothic, late 15th century, France. Fragment of furniture, bas-relief panel in the shape of an elongated standing rectangle height 73 cm, width 25.4 cm, depth 2.3 cm. Oak. Decoration: acanthus twig on a twisted stem with acorns at the top and a lizard at the bottom, enclosed in a pointed arch, flanked by slender columns with prominent pentagonal bases. Decoration enclosed in a rectangular frame made of lines intersecting in the corners. Motifs: lizards, plant decoration, architectural elements, tracery., A vertically oriented carved wooden panel showing intricate openwork foliage and vine motifs with flowing curved stems and stylized leaves, all in a natural brown wood tone; the panel is divided down the center into two adjoining boards with a visible seam and matching carved patterns on each side, and the surface shows wood grain texture and areas of slight wear and darker brown shading in recessed areas.
