Armchair with a frame composed of simple, angular elements, with a piece of cordovan leather connecting the backrest stiles at the top. The legs are joined at the front and back by a frame-like binding in the form of wide geometric woven stiles the front with two decorative knobs, and at the sides by narrow ties cut in a wavy pattern at the bottom. Rectangular board seat with a semi-cylinder edge, profiled frame, decorated with a kimono at the bottom. S-shaped armrests, topped with volutes at the front, rest on turned baluster-shaped supports, which, like the backrest stiles, extend the legs. The backrest's side stiles feature turned pinnacles, fastened midway with a narrow, carved U-shaped link. The frame elements are accentuated around the perimeter with a delicate double groove, and their tenon joints are pinned. The cordovan fabric features a motif of large, artistically crafted flowers, painted and gilded, with a background embossed with waves and tiny sunbursts on the sides; nailed to the backrest's side stiles with large brass pins. The back of the backrest is covered with silk damask. 16th–17th century, Italy. Piece of furniture seating, height 118.5 cm, width 56.4 cm, depth 55.5 cm., A worn wooden headboard with a dark brown textured fabric covering that shows faded floral painted decorations in muted red, green, blue, and yellow tones, topped at each end with turned wooden finials in a brown finish; the fabric is studded along the vertical edges with a row of rounded metal or wooden studs that appear dark aged brown or black, and the supporting vertical posts are visible in a medium brown wood.
