Armchair, created in the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, France. Upholstery fabric possibly Aubusson or Beauvais. Seating piece of furniture with cabriole legs; height 107.3 cm, width 76.8 cm, depth 77.5 cm. Decoration includes illustrations for fairy tales after Jean de la Fontaine, flowers, vultures, wolves, birds pigeons, wells, animals, shells and Rococo ornament and style. Designer: Jean-Baptiste Oudry 1686–1755 attributed for original illustrations; maker, origin/provenance unknown., A gilded wooden armchair with carved scrollwork and cabriole legs upholstered in a floral-patterned fabric; the frame is gold in color and the upholstery shows a palette of pink, green, beige, and cream with floral motifs; a few decorative nailhead trims in a dark tone outline the seat and arm pads; the chair is shown from the side against a neutral pale gray background.
