Chair, origin unknown, Rococo, ca. 1750–1765, Germany. Rococo chair with volute ornament, plant decoration, acanthus, shells, female figures, flowers, ribbon-and-pincer ornament. Boarded inlaid backrest a lady in a crinoline surrounded by flowers; rectangular originally upholstered seat; cabriole legs decorated in bas-relief with motifs at the top including shells on the knees, terminating in volute feet. Frame wavy-cut at the bottom, decorated with acanthus leaves. Seat frame with wavy outer outline enclosing a padded central section. High backrest with clearance, angular stiles, and a wavy-curved upper section. Inlaid representation on the backrest framed by two intertwining U-shaped ribbons. Furniture — seating piece. Dimensions: height 115 cm; width 53 cm; depth 63 cm., A wooden chair with a tall rectangular back featuring an inlaid decorative panel showing floral motifs and a central figure, the back framed by a subtly curved top and vertical stiles; the seat has a padded cushion with a soft, slightly worn surface set into a wooden seat rail with carved apron details; the cabriole legs are carved with flowing acanthus-like ornamentation and end in scroll feet; visible colors include warm brown tones of the wood, lighter tan of the cushion, and darker brown inlaid accents against a neutral gray background.
