Church throne armchair, carved, mid-18th century, Italy. Seating piece; height 201.5 cm, width 81 cm, depth 59 cm. High rectangular backrest in the form of an aedicula topped with a volute top; supported on a platform cut out in the shape of the letter U. Two console supports for the board seat; supports, sides, and lower part of the back with a frame structure. Seat with concave outline, profiled rim, lifting in the middle on hinges. Aedicula backrest made of two parts, with a shell at the top framed by a profiled cornice. Lower side walls arch into the armrests. Upper part of the seat supports, armrests, and side pinnacles carved with volutes formed of acanthus leaves. Aedicule shell rim and finial volutes gilded. Baroque style; ornament: shells, acanthus, volutes; function: church furnishings., A tall wooden furniture piece shown from its back with visible wood grain and signs of wear, featuring a carved crest at the top and carved scroll-like ornaments on the upper sides, a recessed central panel, curved side panels with decorative molding, and a base with bracket-like feet; the visible colors include various shades of brown in the wood, small areas of gold on some ornamental details, and a pale gray background.
