Armchair, provenance unknown. Neo-Rococo style, 1850–1870, France. Upholstered armchair backrest, seat, armrests, rose veneered, decorated with porcelain plaques and cast brass fittings. S-shaped cabriole legs widening in the upper section, arching into a wavy, bulging frame with front rollers. Armrests repeat the frame outline on recessed, slightly S-shaped supports topped with volutes. Backrest shaped as a symmetrical cartouche widening upwards, framed by channel sections topped with volutes, with a clearance. Porcelain plaques painted with flowers set in brass frames composed of rocaille, flowers, and acanthus leaves at the center front frame and backrest finial. Frame edges accented with brass strips; brass fittings include a garland at the backrest finial, volutes at the armrest ends, acanthus plaques and slippers at the knees and feet. Seat upholstery on springs; upholstery non-original, with lace ribbons featuring floral bouquets. Motifs: flowers, rocaille, acanthus, fetes galantes, campanulas, floral bouquets, cartouches. Function: seating unit, furniture. Dimensions: height 111 cm, width 70 cm, depth 60 cm., An ornate upholstered armchair with a high, curved back and carved wooden frame upholstered in a light beige fabric with subtle floral patterns; the wooden frame shows warm brown and amber tones with gilded decorative metal mounts and scrollwork along the crest, arms, apron, and legs, and there are small painted porcelain medallions set into the crest and apron featuring pastel blues and pinks; the armrests are padded and covered in the same beige fabric and end in carved gilded terminals, the cabriole legs feature additional gilded ornament and the front feet rest on small casters; overall colors visible include beige, warm brown, amber, gold, pastel blue, pastel pink, and a touch of dark metal on the casters.
