Armchair, provenance unknown. Upholstered armchair backrest, seat, armrests, veneered with rosewood, decorated with porcelain plaques and cast brass fittings. Neo-Rococo style neo-Rococo, featuring rocaille ornament, acanthus ornament, campanulas, floral bouquets, cartouches, and fêtes galantes motifs. S-shaped cabriole legs widening in the upper section, arching into a wavy, bulging frame with front rollers. Armrests repeat the frame outline on recessed, slightly S-shaped supports topped with volutes. Backrest in the form of a symmetrical cartouche, widening upwards, framed by channel sections topped with volutes; with a clearance. Porcelain plaques painted with flowers at the center of the front frame and backrest finial, set in brass frames of rocaille, flowers, and acanthus leaves. Frame edges accented with brass strips; brass fittings include a garland at the backrest finial, volutes at the armrest ends, acanthus plaques and slippers at knees and feet. Seat upholstered on springs. Upholstery non-original, with lace ribbons featuring floral bouquets. Dated 1850–1870, France, seating unit, furniture. Dimensions: height 111 cm, width 70 cm, depth 60 cm., An ornate wooden armchair upholstered in a pale cream fabric with a subtle floral damask pattern, featuring a high curved back, padded armrests, and a cushioned seat; the wood has a warm brown finish with carved scrolling details and gilded brass or bronze decorative mounts on the arms, legs, and crest, and there are small porcelain insets with painted scenes set into the crest and apron; visible colors include cream, warm brown, gold, and small areas of blue and multicolored paint on the porcelain insets.
