Padlock, 19th century. A padlock in the shape of a cuboid, the upper part topped with a kind of cornice; on each cornice two cuboids are connected by a cylindrical rod acting as an earring. After unlocking, the side wall together with the earring is pulled out, facilitated by an openwork handle on a hinge. The keyhole is horizontal on the longer wall. Materials/technique: locksmithing. Dimensions: height 12.6 cm, width 12.7 cm, depth 6.2 cm., A metal rectangular block with a matte silver-gray surface stands upright against a pale gray background, showing worn and slightly mottled textures and a few darker spots; the block has a vertical slot creating an open gap in its left side revealing a cylindrical metal rod with a similar silver-gray finish, and the edges of the slot are fluted with a ridged pattern; on top of the block a decorative metal loop with an ornate shape and a darker pewter tone is attached, and the block casts a faint reflection on the glossy surface beneath it.
