Renaissance door knocker with the Medici coat of arms, Renaissance style. Bronze door knocker with a base in the form of a mask with horns in the form of volutes, on which stand two naked putti supporting the Medici coat of arms. The figures are framed on the outside by acanthus tendrils growing from the volutes. A movable pin for mounting the door knocker is placed above the coat of arms. A similar object is located in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. Ryszard Bobrow noted the popularity of this model in the 19th century, especially in Paris, where cast-iron knockers of similar shapes can still be found on the doors of tenement houses. 16th century, Italy, Venice; door fittings; height 21 cm, width 18 cm., A dark metallic decorative object with a long vertical rod topped by a threaded bolt and flat nut, connected to an ornate sculpted plate featuring a pair of stylized animal figures facing inward, their muscular bodies and limbs forming a symmetrical composition around a central rounded motif with raised circular bumps; elaborate scrolling acanthus-like foliage and spiral volutes frame the lower section, and the surface shows a polished patina with highlights of brown, black, and subtle bronze tones against a neutral gray background.
