Tray with a gallery, Sponholtz, Friedrich Wilhelm 1730–1789 goldsmith. Rectangular, surrounded by an openwork gallery motif of semicircles with elongated hexagons between them, with a pearled edge. On one of the longer sides, in the middle, a smooth reserve with goldsmith's marks. In the center of the mirror, a relief plaque with the Czartoryski family coat of arms is soldered on, beneath the mitre, with the motto and holders on a paludamentum. The bottom of the tray is made of brass sheet, thickly silver-plated on both sides technique uncertain—probably cold silver leaf plating, argent haché. The plaque with the Czartoryski coat of arms is secondary, added in France in the second quarter of the 19th century; the bottom may also have been replaced at that time. The placement of goldsmith's marks on the openwork gallery, with the only reserve, supports its originality. Date: 1770s. Place: Gdansk, Royal Prussia, Poland. Vessel. Height 3.5 cm; width 27.5 cm; depth 22 cm; weight 1170 g., A rectangular metal tray with a raised ornate border sits on a flat surface, the tray and border appearing in shades of silver and gray; the tray interior shows light scratches and scuffs across its smooth silver surface with a small decorative metal emblem centered near the middle; the border has a repeating openwork pattern and a twisted rope-like outer edge, casting subtle gray shadows on the tray and the surrounding gray background.
