Chocolate jug, maker: Edme-Pierre Balzac fl. 1739–1781, goldsmith. Pear-shaped chocolate jug supported on three legs, with a small spout and a hinged lid featuring a circular opening and a sliding circular cover. The lower part of the belly is decorated with vertical curls; the upper part with repoussé garlands and an oval reserve. Material: metal goldsmith work. Date: 1764–1765, place of origin: Paris, France. Dimensions: height 26 cm, width 24 cm, depth 13.5 cm., A metal pot with a rounded body and decorative engraved floral garlands stands on three curved legs; it has a hinged domed lid with a small finial and a strap-like hinge, and a turned dark wooden handle projecting from the side. The visible colors are silver on the metal body and lid, dark brown to black on the wooden handle, and a pale gray background.
