Plaque with a depiction of Christ - Ecce Homo, painted enamel, Ecce homo iconographic. Rectangular, slightly convex plaque with a depiction of Christ in a bust, wearing a crown of thorns, holding a baton, marks of scourging on his chest, and a purple robe on his shoulders. The whole set in a double painted gold frame. At the bottom, on a strip of white enamel, the inscription ECCE HOMO. A hole and enamel chips in the upper edge, at the bottom in the left corner and in the middle, as well as traces of old additions. Contre-email brownish-reddish. Early 17th century, Limoges, France. Plaque height 8.8 cm, width 7 cm., A painted rectangular panel showing a bust of a man with long brown hair and a beard wearing a green crown-like headpiece and a purple robe; his skin is pale with short red marks across his chest and forehead, and his expression appears solemn as he looks slightly upward and to the side. He holds a slender brown twig or reed across his folded hands, and a radiating golden halo with fine rays surrounds his head against a dark black background. The panel has a narrow gold border, areas of wear and crackling at the edges, and small patches of greenish corrosion and exposed underlying material along the lower sides; visible colors include green, purple, brown, gold, black, pale skin tones, red, and hints of blue-gray.
