Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Mantel clock in the form of a four-column portico on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base, with a rhombus rosette and a tendril on both stiles; gilded bronze bases and capitals. A suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. A gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Height 47 cm; width 21 cm., An upright wooden structure with a rectangular top section in dark brown wood and lighter brown trim, supported by a pair of polished cylindrical wooden columns showing rich brown and reddish wood grain with darker streaks; each column has a decorative gold-colored capital near the top. Between the columns hangs a round metallic mechanism in a muted brass color with visible gears and small fastenings, and a small pale rectangular label attached to its surface. The background is a smooth pale gray. Colors visible include dark brown, light brown, reddish brown, gold, brass, pale, and gray.
