Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Mantel clock in the form of a four-column portico on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base with a rhombus rosette and a tendril on both styrons; gilded bronze bases and capitals. A suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. A gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Circa 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece. Height 47 cm, width 21 cm., A vertical section of an object showing a wooden upper block with a smooth, polished dark brown surface and lighter brown trim, topped by a slightly overhanging cap in a medium golden-brown color. Below the block are a pair of decorative cylindrical capitals in a metallic gold color with embossed detailing, supporting a set of long, slender columns with a glossy dark brown wood grain and thin lighter brown vertical stripes. Between the columns a glimpse of mechanical components is visible in a brass or muted gold color, including round and toothed elements. The background is a neutral light gray.
