Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Mantel clock in the form of a four-column portico on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base with a rhombus rosette and a tendril on both stylons; gilded bronze bases and capitals. A suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. A gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece; height 47 cm, width 21 cm., A tall decorative clock with a rectangular wooden top and base, connected by a group of four vertical cylindrical columns, each dark brown with lighter brown vertical streaks and gold-colored bases and capitals; a round clock face with a textured light silver center is set within an ornate gold-colored floral frame suspended between the upper support and the columns; the wooden surfaces feature inlaid floral and geometric marquetry in lighter wood tones, and the visible colors include dark brown, light brown, gold, and silver against a pale gray background.
