Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Mantel clock in the form of a four-column portico on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base with a rhombus rosette and a tendril on both stylons; gilded bronze bases and capitals. Suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. Gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece; H. 47 cm, W. 21 cm., A vertical wooden structure with a polished dark brown finish and visible wood grain stands against a pale gray background; it has a rectangular stepped base and a small rectangular top shelf in a lighter brown, connected by a group of four tall cylindrical columns with dark brown wood and lighter brown streaks, each topped and bottomed with decorative gold-colored capitals and bases, and some exposed metallic mechanical components visible between the columns.
