Protractor, acanthus ornament, measuring instrument. Protractor made of silver-plated brass, ca. mid-18th century, Western Europe, height 13.8 cm, width 9 cm., A metallic semicircular instrument rests on a flat background, showing a curved upper arc and a straight lower bar with decorative cutouts along its top edge. The metal surface is silver-gray with areas of slight tarnish and darker spots, and the background is a medium gray. The arc contains a series of evenly spaced short engraved lines and small dots, and the inner arc shows a repeated pattern of short vertical marks. The left and right ends of the straight bar have small hooked projections, and there is a small ring-like loop at the center top of the straight edge. The overall appearance is smooth and slightly reflective, with subtle shadows around the piece.
