Vault lock by Karol Konstabel, locksmith, 2nd half of the 19th century, Warsaw. Masterpiece marked with the guild stamp stamp now invisible. Rectangular cup with an overlaid border with inner wavy edge, a three-length vertical strip with a sequin and two inverted lyre shapes. The lock has three bolts and a fourth latch bolt connected to the handle handle missing. On the underside the case with the mechanism is separated, with a narrow chamber that would cover the bolt hasps. The workmanship and the key register are among the more outstanding features. Same technical solution as in a handmade lock described as Taszynski's from 1861; typical design for a main-door treasury lock with flanking riffles, two springing and two lifting fels. Height 40 cm, width 27.5 cm, depth 12.5 cm. Karol Konstabel was probably the son of Wilhelm, a master locksmith., A metal rectangular mechanism with a weathered brown and dark gray patina stands upright against a pale gray background, showing a hollow top compartment and a flat horizontal plate extending from one side; a cylindrical rod protrudes from the lower front, and a flat metal bar projects horizontally through the middle, with a few small round fasteners visible on the front surface, and subtle reflections of the object appear on the smooth surface beneath.
