Sauce boat; maker: Henry Matthews fl. 1893–ca. 1930, goldsmith; hemispherical silver sauce boat with an elongated wide spout and irregularly cut rim; supported by three palmette feet; volute handle profiled and decorated with an acanthus leaf; ornament: acanthus, volutes, palmettes; dated 1903–1904; place: Birmingham, England, Great Britain; vessel; height 11.5 cm, width 16 cm, depth 9.7 cm, weight 248 g., A silver-colored metal gravy boat with a high curved spout and an ornate scrolled handle, shown against a pale neutral background that transitions from off-white to light gray. The body of the vessel has a polished but slightly worn surface with visible reflections and subtle surface marks. The rim is irregular and slightly ruffled, and the interior shows a reflective silver finish. It stands on a few decorative feet resembling stylized shells or scrolls, and there is a hint of darker tarnish in recessed areas and along some edges. The colors visible are silver, off-white, and light gray.
