Scissor-shaped candlestick stoczek, Jan Radecki fl. 1815–1837, goldsmith. Candlestick for a thin candle twisted serpentine around the stem; supported on a plate-shaped base edged with a half-cylinder; provided with a handle in the form of a ring with a thumb rest. Stem is a sleeve around which the thin candle is twisted; sleeve topped with a pine-cone finial with a vice in the form of flat scissors with volute handles to extend the candle to the desired length. 1815–1837, Poznan, Poland. Function: lighting. Dimensions: height 14.5 cm, width 14 cm, depth 11 cm., A metallic object with a circular base and a raised central column supporting a horizontal pair of scissor-like blades and two circular loops; the base has a ridged decorative rim and a shallow dish center, with a ring-shaped handle attached to the rim; the top of the column is topped with an ornamental, textured finial. Visible colors include silver, gray, and reflections of pale white.
