Pocket watch by Carl Willougby, 2nd quarter of the 18th century, London, England. Silver pocket watch with a striking function in a partially openwork case, richly decorated with engraved ornament covering the entire surface: acanthus twigs and flowers, birds, two masks male and female, acanthus scrolls, fish scale ornament, shells. In the centre a circular reserve of acanthus twig, volutes and fish scales; inside a bell. Glazed lid enclosed by an openwork frame decorated with a floral twig and a broken ribbon. Mechanism between two circular plates supported by columns, with a spindle escapement, a worm with a chain, and a balance drum. Gilded, openwork crown engraved with an acanthus twig, combined with an openwork foot and a woman's mask. White-enameled dial edged with a gilded knurled ribbon, hour markers in Arabic numerals, minutes marked with vertical lines; steel hands. Dimensions: height 8 cm, width 5.5 cm, dial diameter 4.5 cm., A decorative round object with ornate openwork metal filigree on its upper half and a clear rounded lower half, showing a group of scrolling floral and leaf patterns in metallic silver tones, a few smooth polished metallic bands encircling its middle, a small hinge and clasp in similar silver color, and a pale neutral background in shades of white and light gray.
