Pocket watch with striking function; silver in a partially openwork case, richly decorated with engraved ornament covering the entire surface of acanthus twig and flowers among which birds and two masks. In the centre a circular reserve made of acanthus twig, volutes and fish scales, inside a bell. Glazed lid enclosed by an openwork frame decorated with a floral twig and a broken ribbon. Mechanism between two circular plates supported by columns, with a spindle escapement, a worm with a chain, and a balance drum. Gilded, openwork crown with an engraved acanthus twig, combined with an openwork foot and a woman's mask. White-enameled dial edged with a gilded, knurled ribbon, hour markers in Arabic numerals, minutes marked with vertical lines; steel hands. 2nd quarter of the 18th century, London, England. Timepiece; height 8 cm, width 5.5 cm, diameter 4.5 cm dial., A round pocket watch opened to show its inner components, with an ornate upper section featuring a decorative gilded mechanism in gold with small blue and dark metal accents, and a lower silver-toned inner case with a slightly tarnished surface and a visible blue screw; the left lid is open revealing a clear glass cover set in an intricately patterned silver frame; the background is a pale off-white.
