Jug. On a circular, stepped base, the body bulges in the lower part, decorated with a repoussé leafy twig and, at the rim, an eagle with spread wings. Above the two stepped areas is a neck with a spout. Repoussé leaves under the rim and along the rim. The hemispherical handle, fastened with rivets; the lid is hinged with a finger grip, arched, decorated with a leafy rosette and topped with a ball. Maker: Szewczykowski, Roman 1849–1901 — role unknown. 1st half of the 18th century, Poland. Vessel. Height 39.5 cm; width 23.9 cm; depth 28.4 cm., A single metal jug with a hinged lid sits against a plain light gray background, showing a rounded base that narrows into a neck and flares again at the top; the surface of the jug is a warm brownish-bronze with areas of darker patina and subtle greenish tarnish, and it features ornate raised floral and foliate decoration around its bulbous midsection as well as decorative bands near the top and base; a vertical handle with a heart-shaped fastening runs from the lid down the neck, the lid itself has a domed form with a small knob and concentric ridges, and the jug rests on a stepped circular foot that mirrors the bronze coloring and reflective highlights.
