Plate by Otto Friedrich Groth fl. 1792–1822. Flat pewter plate with a smooth mirror, semicircular notch, and narrow upturned collar. In the mirror is an engraved representation of unidentified crossed guild tools with the date 1812 possibly meat cleavers, surrounded by a stylized plant twig with symmetrically arranged flowers, including tulips on leafy stems, beneath a crown. On the collar is an engraved inscription surrounded by leafy branches: CARL. STOSZ. BEYSITZ-MEISTER. / CARL OTTO ALTGESTELLE., 1812. Brzeg, Silesia. Plate; height 2.2 cm, width 22.2 cm., A round metal plate with a raised rim, shown against a pale background, featuring an engraved central design of two crossed objects surrounded by floral motifs and decorative scrollwork, with a crown-like element above and stylized flowers and leaves flanking the central motif; the plate has a satin metallic surface with areas of darker and lighter gray.
