Pocket watch by Joseph Zeidlmayr fl. first half of the 18th century. Watch in a double case: outer case with a frame surrounding the dial and a repoussé depiction of the Crucifixion with Mary and St. John on the back, surrounded by a border of eight C-shaped sections and further ornamental decoration. Smooth silver inner case. Silver dial with Roman hour numerals separated by gold dots and Arabic minute numerals. The reserve bears the signature of the watchmaker Zeidlmayr. Inside, the movement cover has a cutout revealing a bun. The movement is marked “Breslau / Joseph Zeidlmayr.” Inside the case are a negative MS mark, a negative mark and a possibly illegible goldsmith’s mark rosette?, plus two numbers—markings probably made by repairing watchmakers. Date: first half of the 18th century. Place of origin: Wroclaw Breslau, Silesia. Timepiece., An open circular metal object with a hinged lid showing a round inner mechanism; the inner mechanism has a decorative perforated disc and other components in a golden color with some darker metal accents, while the outer casing and lid are a silvery metallic color; the background is a smooth pale gray.
