Pocket watch by Joseph Zeidlmayr fl. first half of the 18th century. Watch in a double case; outer case with a frame surrounding the dial and a repoussé depiction of the Crucifixion with Mary and St. John on the back, surrounded by a border of eight C-shaped sections and ornamental decoration. Smooth silver inner case. Silver dial with Roman numerals for hours separated by gold dots and Arabic minute numerals. The reserve bears the signature of the watchmaker Zeidlmayr. Inside, the movement cover has a cutout revealing a bun. The movement is marked: Breslau / Joseph Zeidlmayr. Inside the case are a negative MS mark, a negative mark and a possible goldsmith's mark rosette?, plus two numbers—markings probably made by repairing watchmakers. 1st half of the 18th century; Wroclaw, Silesia. Timepiece., A circular metallic object with ornate raised relief showing a central figure on a cross flanked by two standing figures, all surrounded by intricate scrollwork and floral motifs; the object appears silver in color and rests against a pale gray background with subtle variations of light and shadow.
