Buckle, repossession, gift. Silver buckle fastening Delya's coat, probably royal, inscription 24 February 1705. Two-part buckle, each element in the form of a bota, with a repoussé border composed of strips of pearls and leaves. Inside, circular medallions with a phoenix holding snakes in its beak. Both elements are connected with a hook; the part with the ring is covered with a rectangular shield, with ogee spines at the top and bottom, bearing a circular medallion with the Polish eagle. Both parts at the top and bottom have soldered rings; on the reverse, vertical strips for attaching a belt are soldered on; one of them with a disc on the clasp is engraved in italics with the words Warszawa / 24 11 1705. Not signed, not hallmarked. The buckle may be a Middle Eastern work from the 19th century, later supplemented with a disc with the Polish eagle and an inscription, probably from the third quarter and made in Europe. 3rd quarter of the 19th century; Germany. Clothing accessory buckle. Height 10.5 cm; width 26.5 cm., A pair of ornate metallic pieces with a silvery finish sit against a pale gray background, each shaped with a curved, almost kidneylike outline and detailed with raised decorative relief; both larger pieces feature a stylized bird motif at their centers surrounded by dense scrolling foliage and floral ornament, with beaded borders and small loop attachments along their edges, and a smaller shieldlike connector between them bears a central round medallion with a radial feathered motif and an elaborately patterned frame, all rendered in shades of silver and light gray.
