Souvenir spoon, Shepard Mfg. Co. fl. 1893–1923. Silver souvenir spoon, ovoid scoop with engraved view of buildings and the inscription JACKSONS / BIRTHPLACE / NASHVILLE / TENN. Flat handle with irregular edges made of channel sections; the inscription TENNESSEE along the handle, above which is a man with a pickaxe. The handle is widened at the end with relief depictions of a plow, a sheaf of wheat above it the Roman numeral XVI, cotton, with the inscription AGRICULTURE underneath, and a ship below with the inscription COMMERCE below — the emblems of the state of Tennessee; XVI denotes the state's serial number; AGRICULTURE and COMMERCE are the state motto. Depicts Paderewski, Ignacy Jan 1860–1941 and references Andrew Jackson 1767–1845. 19th/20th century. Melrose Highlands, United States of America. Cutlery.
