Souvenir spoon by Towle Silversmith fl. 1882–, late 19th century. Ovoid dipper with pointed tip showing a scene of a mine interior with two men with pickaxes; reverse of dipper engraved in cursive Batle Mont probably referring to Battle Mount, Nevada. Straight, flaring handle with lanceolate tip; handle grip depicts a man standing by a well, turning a crank, winding a chain along the handle to which a bucket filled with ore is attached, reaching into the mine. Reverse of handle shows a crossed shovel, pickaxe and a rope with an incomprehensible inscription. Souvenir spoon, cutlery; materials: silver; place of origin: Newburyport, United States of America. Height 14.6 cm, width 2.3 cm, weight 30 g., A single metal spoon lies horizontally on a flat surface, showing a smooth, slightly reflective bowl and an ornate handle with raised decorative patterns; the visible colors are silver tones on the spoon and a muted gray background.
