Decorated with laurel festoons suspended from rosette medallions; lower edge with a knurled belt of stylized Lesbian cymatium. Slightly arched cover edged with a knurled wavy ornament running dog. Centrally placed circular medallion with relief of Athena wearing a helmet and holding a spear in her left hand; on the right side a circular reserve and an olive branch. Ornament: festoons, bay leaves, cymatium, running dog. Inscription/attribution: Ewa Martyna-Michalska. Date: 1780/1781. Place of origin: London, England, Great Britain. Function: toilet accessory. Materials: implied silver/goldsmith work. Dimensions: height 5.2 cm; diameter 7.9 cm; weight 206 g., A small oval metal box with a domed lid, shown against a plain light gray background, rendered in a pale yellowish-gold color with areas of lighter and slightly darker gold tones; the lid has a raised central medallion and a decorative border, the body features a band of ornamental garlands with oval medallions and a lower band of vertical leaf-like motifs, and the base has stepped rounded edges.
