Oval toilet box by Thomas I Pitts fl. 1755–ca. 1793, goldsmith. Georgian, George III style, England, London, 1780–1781. Oval box on four volute feet formed of acanthus leaves; lower edge decorated with a band of bay leaves, above them laurel festoons with suspended medallions containing rosettes, upper edge with an anthemion frieze. Hinged recessed cover bordered with a band of bay leaves; central medallion on the cover with a relief of four putti at a sacrificial altar. Decorated in relief with festoons, palmettes, anthemions, bay leaves. Materials: toilet accessories. Dimensions: height 12 cm; width 27.1 cm; depth 20 cm; weight 1627 g., A large oval metallic object with a pale yellow and silver sheen rests against a light gray background, featuring a raised central oval area with a bas-relief scene of a group of small human figures and a small animal, surrounded by a decorative border with a repeating triangular pattern and smooth inner and outer bands in shades of pale yellow and silver.
