Sugar bowl by Hutton & Sons Ltd Sheffield, Birmingham, London; goldsmith and silversmith firm; active 1800–1930. Silver sugar bowl, oval with two ribbon handles; clasp vertically in the lower section. Decorated above with a band of stylised acanthus twig and an upper edge with a godron half-cylinder. Godron ornaments, plant twig motif. Function: sugar vessel. Inscription/markings: maker. Dated 1895–1896, London, England. Dimensions: height 11 cm, width 17.3 cm, depth 10.5 cm; weight 231 g., A metallic vessel with a silvery surface and a slightly reflective interior sits against a pale background; it has an oval opening, a decorative rim with a beaded edge, two tall curved handles rising from opposite sides, an engraved band of ornate swirling floral and circular motifs around its upper body, and a lower section with vertical fluted ridges, showing shades of silver, gray, and subtle warm reflections inside.
