Sugar bowl by Hutton & Sons Ltd Sheffield, Birmingham, London; goldsmith and silversmith firm; fl. 1800–1930. Silver sugar bowl, oval with two ribbon handles; clasp vertically in the lower section; decorated above with a band of stylised acanthus twig; upper edge decorated with a godron half-cylinder. Godron ornaments, plant/acanthus twig motif. Date: 1895/1896, London, England, Great Britain. Function: sugar vessel. Dimensions: height 11 cm, width 17.3 cm, depth 10.5 cm; weight 231 g., A silver vessel with two upward-curving handles is centered against a light gray background; the vessel has a rounded rim with a beaded edge, an upper band decorated with an engraved floral and circular motif, and a lower section with vertical fluted ridges; the surface shows reflective highlights and subtle shadows, and the visible colors are silver, gray, and white.
