Teapot, maker: George McHattie fl. 1799–ca. 1825. English Regency rectangular teapot with rounded edges, supported by four ball feet. Decorated with hoardings ornament at the lower section, above which are two smooth half-cylinders; at the narrowing an engraved band of braid. Upper edge has a collar decorated with hoardings and flowers. Hinged, rectangular profiled lid edged with tendril; spout shaped, set high on the axis. Broken ear with bone insulators. Inscribed/date: 1819–1820, Edinburgh, Scotland, Great Britain. Material/function: tea vessel; height 16 cm, width 28.5 cm, depth 13.5 cm, weight 735 g., A shiny metallic vessel sits centered on a smooth surface against a pale beige background, featuring a rounded body with vertical fluted sections and ornate engraved patterns, a domed lid with decorative ridges and a finial on top, a broad handle rising from the rear, a short spout at the front, and three small spherical feet; visible colors include silver tones on the vessel, a hint of gold near the handle, and soft shades of beige and off-white in the background.
