Fragrance container vinaigrette, bag-shaped with envelope closure and protruding tongue; front decorated with dot-engraved flowers and leaves; hinged lid opening to box with openwork insert decorated with plant scrolls. Silver; engraved decoration. Maker: Thomas Shaw fl. 1822–ca. 1840; inscription/marking date 1834/1835. England, Birmingham. Function: toilet accessory. Dimensions: height 2.1 cm, width 1.5 cm, depth 1.0 cm; weight 10 g., A small rectangular metal box with its lid open, showing an inner surface with a scratched texture and a golden color contrasted by silver edges; the interior of the lid has a smooth golden area with visible fine scratches. The top of the box features a decorative pierced metal insert with an ornate floral or scroll-like pattern in a mix of golden and silver tones. The exterior sides of the box are silver with subtle engraved linear patterns and slightly rounded corners. The background is a neutral light gray.
