Wine cooler by Boulton & Plate Co. Birmingham; goldsmith and plater firm; fl. 1768–1834. Silver, 1826/1827. Classicism/Georgian style. Circular foot decorated with a half-cylinder of laurel and acanthus leaves overlapping a short stem; body enclosed below with large acanthus leaves, above decorated with vines in a diagonal rhombic braid. Plaque with racers on the front riders; a plaque with a secondary inscription in Cyrillic script is attached on the back the original inscription, probably referring to a prize in horse races, has been erased. Decorative strip of vines under the upper edge; rim edged with a stylized kimation; massive handles mounted in satyr masks. Ornamentation includes vine, acanthus leaf, cymatium, satyr heads; iconography: jockey on horse, horse racing. Vessel. Height 30 cm, width 27 cm, depth 24.5 cm, weight 3725 g., A metallic decorative object viewed from above with a central shallow bowl area in aged gold tones surrounded by an ornate rim with carved patterns, a scalloped outer edge, and a group of sculpted lion-like figures forming handles; visible colors include shades of gold, brass, and light beige against a pale neutral background.
